What is Brexit?
On 23 June 2016, Britain voted in a referendum to leave the European Union. Over the next few years this decision will make a difference to everyone living in Britain. The arguments about whether to stay in or leave the EU were very heated, and while many people celebrated the result of the referendum, others were left upset and fearful for the future. Aimed at young tweens and teens, this book looks at the key topics and arguments surrounding Brexit and considers the facts, implications and possible outcomes of Britain's withdrawl from the EU in a balanced and unbiased way.
Hootworthy or Not?
🦉 Owl Be Reading Review: What is Brexit? by Claire Leclerc 📚 Hoot Factor – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This book explained Brexit in a way that was quite easy to understand. It talked about the UK leaving the European Union and some of the reasons why people voted for or against it. I thought it was helpful, but it didn’t go into much detail—it felt a bit rushed. 🎨 Owl-some Illustrations – ⭐⭐⭐⭐ The illustrations helped explain tricky ideas, especially the voting and trade parts. I liked the cartoon-style drawings, but more real examples would have made it even better. 💡 Little Owl’s Takeaway – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Brexit changed how the UK works with other countries, and it’s important to understand why it happened—even if it’s confusing! 💬 Hoot or Boot? – 4/5 Hoots – Hoot! A useful starter for learning about Brexit, but I’d like to read something that explains more about what happened next.
