Escape Room

When twelve-year-old Ami arrives at The Escape, she thinks it's just a game - the ultimate escape room with puzzles and challenges to beat before time runs out. Meeting her teammates, Adjoa, Ibrahim, Oscar and Min, Ami learns from the Host that they have been chosen to save the world and they must work together to find the Answer. But as he locks them inside the first room, they quickly realise this is no ordinary game. From a cavernous library of dust to an ancient Mayan tomb, a deserted shopping mall stalked by extinct animals to the command module of a spaceship heading to Mars, the perils of The Escape seem endless. Can Ami and her friends find the Answer before it's too late? Winner of the Stockton Children's Book of the Year and the Oxfordshire Book Award. Shortlisted for the Indie Book Awards, the Teach Primary Book Awards, the BKCAT Book Awards, the Dudley Children's Book Award, the Portsmouth Book Awards, the TVED Book Awards, the Redbridge Children's Book Awards and the Harrow Junior Book Award.

Hootworthy or Not?

🦉 Owl Be Reading Review: Escape Room by Christopher Edge 📚 Hoot Factor – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This book was amazing! It kept me guessing the whole way through and I absolutely loved the mix of puzzles, teamwork, and twisty challenges. Each room was more exciting than the last, and I never knew what was going to happen next. The story was packed with action and I really liked how the characters had to work together to solve the big mystery. 🎨 Owl-some Illustrations – ⭐⭐⭐⭐½ There weren’t loads of illustrations, but the way the scenes were described made it super easy to imagine everything like a movie in my head. It felt like I was right there in the Escape Room with them! 💡 Little Owl’s Takeaway – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I learned that even when things feel impossible, working as a team and trusting others can help you through. And sometimes the biggest problems need the most creative solutions. I also liked how it made me think about our world and how we treat it. 💬 Hoot or Boot? – 4.75/5 Hoots – Hoot! I loved the cliff-hanger ending—it was so clever! But I wish there was a bit more because I didn’t want it to finish. I’d definitely recommend this to anyone who enjoys a mystery with a twist and a big message behind it.
